A bit of a rant - sorry in advance.

I'm wondering why in the world Apple wouldn't build in support for nike+ with their shuffle. I'm just starting to get into running and I feel like this little device would help me a lot with motivation, etc.

It would work with my iPhone, but really who wants to go running with a 600 dollar device strapped awkwardly to your arm? I see people with these arm bands and think, that just cannot feel comfortable. I have a 2nd gen shuffle, which of course isn't compatible. And, really, I wouldn't even want to run with a nano and an armband - Maybe if the nano had a built in clip like the shuffles do.

I just feel like the shuffle is the iPod made for working out, running, etc. It is the least likely to fall off and break, and if it does, no big deal, its 70 bucks. So WHY is it not compatible with nike+?

So after all this, my question is, does anyone think this will happen in the near future? Will the 4th gen shuffle have a built in bluetooth receiver for this application?

Personally, I doubt that future shuffles would have it.

IMO, there are too many Nike+ features and settings that require a screen to use/set. Not that they technically couldn't be made to work via "VoiceOver", it's just that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to mess around with them if I had to wait for the options to be spoken to me. And even then, how would you set them? Press the +/- buttons on the headphones and listen as VoiceOver speaks you every possible setting choice?

Yeah Nike+ probably does need the screen. Occasionally I got annoyed with the lack of screen on mine just when playing music etc

I had a 2G shuffle too and it was great for just clipping on and forgetting about, but then it broke about 2 weeks after I joined the gym. Typical eh

Anyway, I dug out my iPod mini simply 'cause it came with a belt clip and just sliding that over my waistband I don't notice it at all. I'm playing with the idea of getting a nano for nike+. As long as I can find a decent clip case for it it'll be fine. I'd rather have the nano simply 'cause my moods are changeable and I can fart around with what's playing a lot (some days I need music to keep going, other days I need a book or podcast to distract me from the workout)

Tbh I wish they'd sell some sort of plug in nike+ adapter for the older iPods/iPhone but that'll never happen :(
