Does anyone know anything about the Nike+ sensor. I know my iPhone works as a receiver. My question is do I need my phone with me for the sensor to work or sync with my phone(receiver). I do a lot of sports officiating and would like to know distances I run. Can't really keep my phone on me for that.

You have to have the phone with you.. Sorry for the bad news!

Would the Nike+ SportBand work for what I am looking to do then?

Don't have it myself, but I been doing research on the nike+ products myself as I am considering buying one of them..... yes the sportband will fit your needs as its basically the same thing that you would get on your iphone. Only drawback is that there is limited memory so you can only track a limited amount of "workouts." So you would have to synch it with your comp to make more space for new workouts.
