Any reviews on this model please?

I am thinking of taking the plunge of buying one 44mm cellular (my first Apple watch to actually own), primarily used for running and being able to listen to music wirelessly. I currently have iphone X which is still going strong :)

A lot of people seem to slam the aluminium model, saying it dents/scratches easily. Can one not buy a £10 protective watch case cover from Amazon? To upgrade to steel model is it really necessary?

Thoughts/suggestions welcome :)

I don’t think there is a right or wrong to this, especially when asking for opinions.

I wore a series 3 Nike straight for 32 months and changed now for series 6 Nike.
I was extremely worried about quality, durability and damages, coming from proper dress watches.

Since I was into running I really liked the Nike idea and bought into that and put a transparent case on the watch. I even got Apple Care!
I couldn’t justify spending money for the SS model just to have a different material but the same internal model which would be replaced some time in the future. It is not a proper dress watch, was my thinking. I also wasn’t sure if a smart watch is my “thing”.

I know people don’t like that idea or think it is silly, with a case but it gave me much more confidence and yeah - what can I say: not a single dent, scratch or any damage.

I loved that watch and was really sad to let it go, but I did the trade in, the salesperson was really impressed with the state of the watch and now I am happy about the new addition!

Its the same exact watch as the series 6, you just get additional watch faces. I opted for the nike version simply for that reason. Same price but a handful more watch faces.

What do you mostly use your Apple Watch for, buddy?

Currently deciding whether to return mine, or not?

I’ve always used Aluminum with only a thin film type screen protector and never had a problem (knock on wood). I run, lift, play softball, and do yoga with it on. Unless you’re working with heavy machinery I don’t understand all the concern for dents. It requires a minimal amount of caution to keep your watch looking nice. It does not require an extra few hundred dollars for stainless steel (which I don’t even personally like the look of as much as the aluminum).

I chose the Aluminum because I can opt to upgrade every year if I choose. I went from the Nike series 3, to the Nike 5 and now to the 6 with cellular. I do not use a bumper case and opt for AppleCare+ in case something happens. In owning 4 Apple watches since having the series 1, I have only had one accident.

I agree with MJ22. I think aluminum is still fairly sturdy. I would not do heavy work with it, but I do runs, basic weights, a little soccer with my son and things like that. I also use the film screen that works well as far as scratches on the glass. Unless you are especially clumsy or something, I think the alone works fine. Especially since I would wear these for about two years and upgrade. I also enjoy the additional Nike faces, considering the watch is the same price.

As weesss says above (obviously depending on how much money you like to spend on this stuff), I always get the aluminium models so I can (sort of) justify upgrading more often. As much as I love the Space Black steel, paying almost double just isn't worth it for me. I'd rather upgrade twice as often. I've had a couple scuffs on on my previous s4 (I walked too close to a wall Apple Watch first) but overall holds up well.
