Nintendo DS Lite colors.

I think I'm finally ready to buy a DS Lite, too many good games I want to play (like NSMB, Elite Beat Agents, Mario Kart DS, Pokemon Diamond, Phantom Hourglass, Rune Factory and many others) but I'm not sure which color to buy, there is white, black and the red/black combination.

I've only really seen the DS in black personally and it was nice but white seems cool as well and I would buy the red/black combo but it seems like it could either be really cool or really tacky and bothersome after a while, does anyone have this color or seen it person? Is the black matte or glossy?

What color do you prefer?
 
White. I'm taken by them Pokemon and Japanese FF3 DS Lites though.

Carolines got a Black DS Lite. I think they're very nice and good for playing the dark but a nightmare to keep clean.
Black 5.5G iPod and White DS suits me fine.
 
I have a white one. My only beef with it is that the L/R buttons tend to yellow a bit if you have dirty hands at all due to the texture of them. I heard on the IGN podcast that some of the new black/red ones seem to use different LCD's that have some blurring of blacks.
 
The black and red is eighties tacky, but I like it.

I'll eventually get a black DS Lite, but only if my current DS dumps, which might be a long time. I like my DS's size for holding, but I like the newer buttons way better and its screen certainly does suck when put next to any of my friend's DS Lites.

i have the red/black combo... only way to go :D
I got it cause its different... Every guy has black.
Also i noticed on my red/black the black part is more matt i guess you could say where as my friends white is glossy and slippery which after a while your palms sweat adds more grip to it. Also the Red part so some smudges but easily wipe off with your shirt or a cloth. I got mine with the brain age 2 bundle they didn't sell its seprate at the time.

Exactly! I just bought a black/crimson today. It was nice that it also came with a free case. The red is nice actually, not candy apple red but more of a darker (hence crimson) red. The black and matte which was a total plus. I bought it with the brain age 2 game and such $150 at Target.
If they didn't have red I would have gone white.
Now I just need to buy Mario Kart and get it set with my wifi.
 
I got the black...one look at the keyboard of my white macbook told me which one to get. I got a really slick looking clear plastic case for it and it's never looked dirty or smudgy from fingerprints. I guess it matched my iphone :)

I have white, pink, and navy blue DS lites :) the Navy Blue one is by far my favorite
 
There's a bunch of navy blue and the different special ones here (final fantasy, dragon's quest, etc)...it's actually harder to find the white as they import them and go ahead and import the novelty ones first for whatever reason...

I'd love to see your Navy one. If it's as sexy as the crimson one I wouldn't blame you for owning a second or third color.
Sexy trumps simple economics. ;)
 
I bought the Navy one in Japan, along with the Pink one before it was released here. Play Asia sells the Navy ones I believe.

I'm a gadget freak, thats probably the best explanation for having 3 of them :p
 
I'd love to have one of those import colors but alas, importing is not an option for me.

Anyways, I think I'm going to take my chances with the black/red, the matte black and crimson red sound very attractive to me and while white/black would be very Apple-ish (especially white) I think I have enough with all the Apple gear in my house :p
 
I have a black one and the new black/crimson one [as well as an old school red Mario Kart edition fugly DS]. I really like the two-tone one, even more than I thought I would when I got it. The red is very deep, and the black is a nice matte finish.

I got my Mario Kart DS for Xmas 2005, and made the mistake of letting my then-5yo son play it. He pretty much trashed the touch screen plus he kept sneezing all over it, so I gave it to him and bought a black DS lite for my birthday last year.
Now the red DS has given up the ghost, my son uses mine for the occasional touch game [Warioware, mostly] so I just let him keep the black one and got the new two-tone one this past week.

You can import them directly from Japan, or you can just go to the Nintendo World Store in NYC, where they sell them. So you can get ahold of them in the US.

The blue one rocks, by the way. That's mine- the beautiful, deep, entrancing Navy Blue.

I've got two white ones, but only because the first is autographed by Miyamoto and I can't bear to play it :D Then I still have my old DS Phat.

I can't bear to ever sell off consoles. But I don't understand why anyone would buy two identical systems with different colors.
 
Just let me know where you live and I'll be over to pick up your autographed DS. ;) ¬¬

My left shoulder button just started sticking, :( so maybe it's time for me to buy a new DS. :D Or it's telling me to get back to work and finish the projects people paid me to work on. :eek:
