I have my nMP plugged into a UPS (APC BackUPS Pro 1000) and whenever the computer goes to sleep, it's also supposed to put peripherals to sleep. However, 50s after they go to sleep, they power back up again, and continue cycling between sleep-mode and power-on indefinitely, until I wake the computer from sleep.

I'm wondering if it's because the Back-UPS Pro 1000 uses Step Approximation to Sinewave instead of Power-Factor-Corrected (PFC) Sinewave.

Does the new Mac Pro require a PFC UPS in order to function properly?

If it's not the UPS, consider a smart power strip like:

The red outlets are always on. When the item plugged into the blue outlet is sleeping (adjustable threshold for what is "sleep") the white outlets are off. When the blue device wakes up, all the white outlets power up.
