I was seriously hoping that they will release 2.2 today... guess we will have to wait a little longer... :( what's the possibility that they will release it along with new the Macbook(14 Oct)??

To be fair, Apple run off Cupertino time, and usually release software updates between 10AM-2PM ...

Currently over there it's 7.26AM.

Before we can come to that conclusion, we still have a few hours to wait yet!

1. They just updated.
2. Why do you need it? They won't include MMS or copy/paste.

Exactly..

Don't fall for the multitude of rumors started by the kids around here. 2.2 will come when its good and ready. Not after only 1 beta release.

Btw.. Why did you post this question in the iPhone apps forum?

Oct 14th would be a cool time to demonstrate push on 2.2. Possibly other features that weren't ready for 2.1...

I'm VERY happy with 2.1 right now. All my issues I had are gone, and it's pretty solid. I don't think I'll jump to 2.2 right away, until I see if anything breaks. 2.1 seems like the new 1.4.

Well I want Safari to be fix. Thing crashes 5 times a day. Plus Push Notification. We need these 2 things soon.

safari has been crashing since iphone 1.0. if it hasn't been fixed by now, i highly doubt that it will ever be fixed

I was seriously hoping to win Lotto today too. 2.2 hasn't even been rumored for release, and as mentioned, the beta has only been out for a few days. Why in the world would you even think it would be released today?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't push notifications promised by the end of September??

They were originally, but I think that press release has been rectified by the ministry of truth and all mention of push notifications has been removed. I would suggest you don't mention them again, or else you may be paying a visit to Room 101 :D

Why would anyone ever think it would have been out on Tuesday? There hasn't been a single rumor of any such thing happening from any source. And it took an entire month from when 2.1's first beta went out and the final did (and in that time it was improved greatly).

I'll call BS on this too, only on the assumption that he is viewing multiple tabs and/or viewing content rich sites.

If he's not doing either of those, then I can believe that claim. But if it's otherwise, I think video proof is required.

Video proof of what, every time he uses Safari? I don't remember the last time it crashed on me, but definitely not since the 2.1 update. Less porn in your browsing diet could help...

Considering the 2.1 update didn't even address any Safari issues, I'm having trouble understanding what magical significance this update had in regards to Safari stability. If anything, it probably just cleaned out your cache and gave you a fresh base to start form. It definitely would have been one of the highlighted keynotes if they had made any improvements.

There are other "content rich sites" out there other than porn, get your head out of the gutter. Let's try not to derail the topic with pointless accusations.

What is so special about october 14? Did apple announce anything

I hope that 2.2 includes some kind of management feature for that retarded text reminder thing. Maybe I don't wanna look at my freakin text messages!!!!!!!!!! It's driving me crazy to have the thing buzz or ring 3 times every time I get something and don't look at it right away. WORST FEATURE EVER!!!!!
