So I have noticed when I record videos on my iphone 4 and play it back it plays back in 720p but when I want to cut and edit the video on iMovie on my imac it will not let me choose when i export the video to play in 720p. what gives?

No 720p in iMovie

Go to iMovie preferences and click the Video tab. Check that it's importing the video as Full - Original Size.
