Seems to only work with M1 and upwards, so next base iPad and Mini won't get the new Siri for example? Can't see Apple keeping the old one with these either...
Exactly. If Apple gives the iPad mini some form of A17 (Pro or otherwise) or A18 and those features are included, then it'll be fine. Standard iPad might not have it for a couple of releases. Everything will eventually have this. Apple knows that AI is all the rage and that pre-Apple-Intelligence Siri is a complete joke. That depends on whether the next iPad mini is getting vanilla A16/A17/A18 or if it gets A17/A18 Pro.
A15 doesn't have the RAM to run AI language modelsTechnically the A15 in the Mini is ‘after’ the M1. The M1 is based on the A14 and the M2 is based on the A15.
So, maybe…but probably not.
Not unless it gets 8GB of ramI am confident the mini 7 will have AI. The iPad 11? No, it will get A15 or A16 at best.
Have to think iPad mini 7 will get an A18 (instead of M variant) with 8 GB RAM like the iPhone 16 line, keeping it on par with the phones. It will be tempting.
Apple will not give 8GB RAM to the base iPad, not for a couple more years at leastNot unless it gets 8GB of ram
Unfortunate but probably correct to retain product differentiation and create a marked reason for some folks to buy the Air - AI, more speed, more RAM, nicer screen etc but not at Pro prices. In the same way Air won’t see ProMotion for a while.Apple will not give 8GB RAM to the base iPad, not for a couple more years at least
