I reset my music library recently and after downloading all the music back from iCloud the artist thumbnails are no longer present in artist view.
Happening on both my wife’s and my mac with 2 different libraries from 2 different Apple ID accounts. Did Apple stop supporting this feature? No problems syncing artist thumbnails on iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS.
