Just bought my phone via reservation at an Apple Store...ended up paying full price for it. Apparently you can't get upgrade pricing anymore through Apple Stores?? When did this change or did they screw something up?

Im going to have to try and grab one through AT&T now and return the Apple Store one to get upgrade pricing...

Anyone else have this issue?

That does seem odd particularly since you can get AT&T's upgrade price from Apple when you purchase online. Maybe it has to do with needing to return your current device, although when you do purchase it from Apple online, it simply tells you this will be necessary.

It's an AT&T policy. You can get upgrade pricing only directly from AT&T online or in their own stores. All other stores can sell only Next plans.

They changed it. Online you can only pay in full or select a Next plan.

Oh, I thought he meant a Next upgrade. Maybe he's doing an early upgrade from a 2 year contract.

A good reason to spend more time in this forum, especially a month or so before a new iPhone introduction.

yep, it was changed a while ago but,

how did you get to a reservation without being informed of this at checkout? did you pick the t-mobile version and then thought you'd change it? both app stores were not showing any legacy carriers that would offer upgrade pricing through any apple store purchase starting several weeks ago.?

It made me go through the upgrade check and showed upgrade pricing when I made the reservation...thats why I was confused when I had to pay full price in store.

But there hasn't been an upgrade check and upgrade pricing on the apple site for several months. If you did that and have some email confirmation, which you would have received then I'm not sure why they wouldn't honor it.
