For a while, I have often used/had 2 mobile phones. A Samsung Note 10+ and an iPhone XS Max. For about 6 months or so, I have been using my Note 10+, as my daily, and it has always worked great while at work. During the 6 month period, the XS Max was not even turned on at all.
Last week, I realized how much I miss the integration of my iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. So, I upgraded the XS Max, to an iPhone 11 Pro Max.
I work in IT, as an IT Manager, and with Thanksgiving and low volume of employees at work, I took a few days off. Monday 2nd December, was my first day back in the office.
Once in the office, I performed my role during the day as usual, and kept wondering why I had received no phone calls or text messages, to my mobile. After looking at my device, I noticed there was NO SIGNAL! No bars, nothing, crickets.
I quickly got on a chat with Apple. We did a network reset, and a few other test, nothing helped. Later in the day on Monday, I had a chat with ATT, and they suggested a new SIM card. After work, I obtained a new SIM card. Came into work on Tuesday, and same thing, no bars, one bar if I was standing in the right spot, with my arms at the right angle (you get the picture)...
My IT Support team started to receive support tickets about ATT users having issues with not getting service on their devices.
After conversing with our network team, I found out that we have ATT and Verizon signal boosters in our building (we never knew this, and we never even see the devices any where), and there was an issue with them.
Yesterday, an ATT engineer was dispatched, and solved the connection issue to the antennas. Now my iPhone 11 Pro Max has 5 bars while in the office.
Honestly, I was this ---- close, to either:
1. having the device replaced
2. testing with an old spare iPhone that I have
3. merely go back to a Note 10+.
Talk about timing; from obtaining a new mobile, and the ATT antennas having issue.
Whew, that was close...
