Hey guys,

I am trying to downconvert a large avi file to smaller scale using mpeg streamclip, however, I am getting no audio at all when i drop in any clip. When I click play in the preview window it shows no audio at all.

Can someone help me out? Thanks a lot.

What are you using to downconvert? And what do you want to play the new file on? Also make sure you have information in the audio categories.

basically i am trying to do this:

http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-Most-Video-Formats-to-.Dpg-in-Mac-Osx

When i drop it in there i get no audio

If you've followed all the directions from that link, I can't think of what the problem should be. I don't have a Nintendo DS to try it either. I just got finished using MGEG Streamclip to make an Adobe Premiere ingested .avi file work with powerpoint 2003 so I thought I may be able to help. Sorry I couldn't.

Best I can tell you is to close MGEP streamclip and start over from the beginning. Restarting will allow you to begin with a fresh slate. You can make sure you change all the proper settings and haven't changed anything by accident.

when you dropped in a clip into mpeg streamclip did you get audio when you pressed play? I didnt. And I didnt get audio afterwords when I opened up the newly sized clip in VLC to test it.

I didn't even try the audio in preview. Only checked the newly created file.

I suppose I'll try to re-download the app. I am getting no audio at all, in preview or after i completely convert the clip.

would you mind posting a screen shot of your settings from mpeg streamclip when you export to avi? Maybe ive just got something wrong selected or something... I dunno. Im just struggling to figure out why this isnt working

This was used for a Powerpoint 2003 presentation on a windows computer. I used MPEG Streamclip on my MBP to conert then moved it to the other computer. These are the settings I used to make it compatible...

The original files were avi's captured with a canopus card in adobe premiere on a windows computer. They wouldn't play without some tweaking, so I found that the cinepak codec was compatible, so that's what I used. It worked but the quality wasn't perfect. Maybe the DIVX codec isn't compatible with your Nintendo???

I too am getting no audio in MPEG Streamclip, neither when I play the clip in it nor when I play the exported clip in QT.

Funny thing is when I first started using it about 2 weeks ago, I converted a few AVI's just fine into MP4's using it, with sound. Then for no reason I can fathom MPEG Streamclip stopped giving me sound.

I tried trashing the app using AppZapper and reinstalling it, same problem.

Nothing in terms of audio/video has been added/removed from my iMac in between (Perian and QT Pro were both installed BEFORE I ever used MPEG Streamclip, and like I said, it was working fine at first)

I have the same problem, no sound with divx files. Finally, do you find a solution?

i have the same problem: no audio after conversion from AVI to MOV format with the MPEG tool.
Messing around now for a whole day i do not see some light in the tunnel.
Any help most welcome.
thanks

problem solved by overriding TOASTs default setting for AUDIO (was DOLBY) to the other possibility : PCM!!
hope this helps for others too.
Cheers,
Henk

Not sure what Roxio Toast has got to do with MPEG StreamClip??

Writing the conversion .MOV from MPEG to a DVD using TOAST resulted in a movie without any AUDIO.
Checking the file on my iMac the AUDIO was present.
Creating a new DVD with TOAST setting PCM and not DOLBY(default) solving the problem.
Just my 2 cents.

Had the same problem with MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b producing no audio with some AVI files that it formally played fine on my Intel mac running Leopard. Tried all the suggestions I found online (reinstalling, updating Perian, etc.) with no luck. I tried the files with version 1.9.2 and got the same results. But when I tried playing the files on version 1.9.1 the audio played fine. Go figure. I haven't a clue why MPEG Streamclip 1.9.1 recognizes the audio and the more recent versions don't...I'm just happy to get the audio back! Others might try this when all else fails.

I too had to downgrade to 1.9.1 to get the audio to work. 1.9.2 and 1.9.3b did not work for me. Thanks for the tip!

Running version 1.9.1 worked for me, whereas Perian did not, as I already had it installed before I encountered the problem.

Where did you find 1.9.1

Where did you find the 1.9.1 - im having the same problems described here with audio in streamclip. I can't find the older versions for d/l. I need the mac os version. Does anybody have a link to an older version of streamclip so i can resolve this audio issue?
