No back to school announcement at WWDC today

Disappointing for those of us waiting patiently. We're already a bit late by past history.

2010 - launched May 25
2009 - May 27
2008 - June 3
2007 - June 5
2006 - June 5
 
I had a chat with some one from apple.

good so is apple doing that back to school deal that they did with the macbook pro and the ipod touch
The “Buy a Mac for college, and get a free iPod touch” promotion is no longer available. But if you’re a college student or a teacher or faculty member at any grade level, you qualify for education pricing on Mac computers and software all year round.

Once you find your school, select it, then click the blue button to proceed to your school's store page. All of the pricing will be preloaded on all items then.
Aren't they starting up that promotion in the next few weeks though

Not until some kind of announcement is made, if one is made. I'm sorry.
Dosent apple have a retern policy?
Yes, you have a 14 day trial period to return or exchange your Mac if you are unhappy with it.
So in theiry i could buy a mac now and if the promotion starts i could return the laptop and then buy the other one and get a free ipod
If it starts within 14 days, yes.
Although Customer Service would probably not make you send back the Mac and just send you out the iPod if I had to guess.
So i could just buy the laptop now, and latter get an ipod with out reterning the laptop?
I'm guessing at that. Like I said, I can't imagine them making you send it back just to reorder it.

Why would a Back to School promotional sale be announced at a developer's conference? The logic boggles the mind.
 
I really hope it happens this week or I'm gonna start to think it'll never happen.

why? does your school year start next week? i think the fact that apple has had the b2s sales around the world this year kind of suggests they'll be having it in the us as well :)

expecting apple to undermine its massive new projects (lion, os5, icloud) by announcing a b2s sale, at a developer's conference no less, is sort of unrealistic, don't you think?

The B2S deal is up for certain students across University in US, did not announce to public. (Like it said its not for the public, so I can't give details on whats in the deal, all I can say is its way better than a free iPod Touch :D ..)

I am not going into too much of detail on this one, but he is right, if you don't see it this month, you won't see it this year...

lol. so true. in fact, i thoughht i saw somewhere that apple specifically said they would not be offering ipads with anything. maybe i am just imagining that. anyhow, if you think you are going to get some product worth more than 200 for free just because you area student, i guess you really are an idealistc dreamer. or, just a dreamer :)

as for motoracer's outrageous expectations, we need people like you to keep the pressure on apple. anything less than unicorns and magic will not be accepted ! :)

It's just the fact that the past 5 years they had already started by this date. I'm just getting anxious to get my first Mac! Lol

Appears to be a year of change. iPhone 4 coming out in fall, WWDC being software only.

There is nothing about iPad 2 as far as I know...

I'll tell the truth..
It's Low-end MBP 15" with Matte/High Res, Apple care for 1600.
This is the only deal so far...
