No Back Up Option in iTunes

how can i get the backup option in itunes? I have it for my iphone 3g but not for my 5th gen ipod nano. I fixed it for my iphone by tying a terminal command but no i can only backup my iphone and not my nano
 
iTunes only backs up iPhones and iPod touches because of all the other stuff like App data, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, that it has to. You cannot back up an iPod nano through iTunes, but you can transfer purchases.
