No Bluetooth Symbol In System Preferences

Trying to add a wireless mouse to macbook. What to do?

EDIT: No bluetooth icon visible.
 
I have found a few suggested remedies in old threads, but none of them work for me. The macbook tells me bluetooth is hidden since I do not have any bluetooth devices connected. The mouse is wireless, so it is a little difficult to connect it to the computer.

Still seeking some help!
