No CD/DVD disc image

I am unable to play CD's/DVD's, no disc images appear. I am able to open DVD Player, but when I insert a disk, it does not show up anywhere, and when I try to play it, I get the Not Permitted dialog. I recently deleted one of my User accounts, but I deleted com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist, and did a Repair Permissions, but it still will not play. Using 10.3.3. Any suggestions?
