Will iPad2 and the new IOS v.5 finally allow printing to all printers, or will it be still printing only to AirPlay enabled (mostly HP) printers? Meaning 3rd party software still needed to print from iPad (both 1 and 2) to non-AirPlay printers?

No one can answer that question.
I suspect 'yes' as I also suspect current Air Print with HP to be an timed exclusive deal, hence the sudden dropping of support for Mac shared printing and other manufactures printers.
But... We shall have to way and see really.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like waiting for the new IOS won't help, and time to spring for Printopia. Thanks much.
Isn't AirPrint support a function of the printer anyway? If it's AirPrint compatible it will work, if it isn't it wont?

AirPrint Activator worked beautifully. No need for Printopia and 10 bucks. (Altho I should donate to Activator.)
