No contact pictures showing in iMessage

Since updating to iOS 9 my contact pictures are not showing in iMessage, this is only on iPad Air 2, iPhone 6 showing pictures fine. When I look in my contacts on iPad the pictures are there and assigned as they should be. Any ideas?
