No Contract iPhone 3G for ATT Customers (?)

Does anyone have any information on when the (albeit ridiculously overpriced) no-contract iPhone 3Gs would be available? Obviously not on the 11th but I am curious if this is something that we won't see for a while or shortly after.

This is particularly attractive for some people, existing ATT customers not wanting a contract or developers and corporations who which to purchase a phone for testing and development and be able to use it with their existing SIM cards.

Any info anyone has heard about when we can expect this to be available?

from what I recall it's going to about $599 and I don't recall when it will be available..

September, October??? sometime around there If memory serves me correctly.. or maybe that time frame is for the "pay as you go"??
