I find if I’m far from my iPhone but near / at home, I can’t send iMessages or do much else. This confuses me because I have an Apple Watch with cellular service on. Why doesn’t it use the cellular service to send iMessages etc. when the phone isn’t near it? Is there a way around?

Might sound like an obvious question, but you are paying for a cellular service for your watch aren’t you? You’re not just saying that the watch is cellular-enabled and thats it?

Thanks, I do think part of this could be a long switch-over (and yes, I have cellular service and a cell plan). Part of it may be due to what I’ve observed that cellular is inactive unless required to save batteries. This is unlike an iPhone where it’s live all the time. If this is indeed what’s going on, it seems to be a poor configuration of the networks. I think part of the issue is that I might be on WiFi and not connected to my phone.

Have others had issues like these?
