I recently got a new MacBook Pro and did the extended transfer of all files, software, settings etc. And it's pretty complete, except for a few glitches. In the process, by the way I was moving from OS X 10.6.8 to OS 10.8.2

However, what is weird is that my desktop background is now a dull dark-ish grey. When I go the System preferences>Desktop &Screensaver, the nice picture I want shows up as the current setting. Yet, it is not the desktop background. Only that grey shows.

Suggestions?

Try selecting a different desktop wallpaper, then the one you want. Also, try rebooting.

Usually that grey color shows when the dock is restarting etc… does it look like this?
