No folder view, all others okay

I just unpacked a retina iMac and did migration assistant from my mac mini. All looks good except there are no folders in the folder view. List view okay, overflow and columns okay. Folder view is blank. Any ideas? I verified/repaired disk permissions and rebooted a few times, no change. It's about the only issue I have with the transfer. Folder view is still fine on the mini.
