Hi guys
I've been a long Time OSX user without issues.
Last year I bought a new MacBook Air with Sierra and 128gb SSD drive.
I'm having major issues with how macOS controls my disk usage.
I have literally tried every possible solution I found on the web regarding this.
Problem: After emptying the trash, I get no free disk space. After about 10 minutes to 3 hours, the OS gives me 'some' free space. Let's say I delete 20GB worth of files. After 10 minutes, give or take, I get maybe 9GB of free space back. It's ridiculous. It's coming to the point where I continue to get this pop up message saying I am running out of disk space.
- I don't use Time machine, ever.
- I don't use iCloud disk, ever.
In "Manage Storage.." I notice SYSTEM is using 89 of GB's...
I should have at least 50GB of free space, as I only have Ableton, photoshop and 2 games installed. However, "get info" tells my I have just 9,88GB of free space.
This is way beyond annoying. Never have I experienced this behaviour on any system starting from windows 98. Ive been using OSX since Tiger.
I've tried everything I could find on the internet. Something annoying and mysterious is "keeping" my files. Some kind of massive " file log" mechanism or something I suppose
[doublepost=1549649163][/doublepost]If I delete a 5GB file, I want 5GB of free disk space back. Simple.
Spotlight is disabled as well, btw
