Hi all!
I've beem struggling with this for the last months and no one seems to provide a solution at Apple.
While using the Apple TV app for Mac, on my 2024 MacBook Pro, while streaming show with HDR/Dolby Vision, the Mac plays the show in SDR.
If I watch the same shows using my Apple TV connected to my LG OLED TV, it plays properly in Dolby Vision or HDR.
Is anyone able to watch Apple TV+ shows in HDR on a MacBook Pro?
Supposedly the built-in XDR display should be able to do it.
If I watch YouTube videos with HDR, my Mac plays them perfectly well.
Any input is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

"Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Battery (or Energy Saver). Click the Options button, if present. If “Optimize video streaming while on battery” is turned on, your Mac saves energy by playing HDR video in standard dynamic range (SDR) while on battery power. To play in HDR, connect your Mac to power or deselect this checkbox."

Hi, @bogdanw. Thanks for the input, but that option is disabled. This seems to affect only the Apple TV app for Mac OS as if I use the Apple TV on Safari, HDR is activated.

It's the same. HDR on Apple TV on safari. Always SDR on Apple TV app for Mac

Just checked again, it's not even that it's SDR, it's streaming the 1080 version. I started playing it, jumped into full screen, then in the top menu options hovered over Video tab which shows HD in Video Quality as default and Info again shows HD, weird.

Although having said that, it appears to be 4k streaming and DV on when turning off private relay.
