What happened to the HomePod mini 'playback' controls in the Home.app on the Mac? Yes, I do see the options (and working) on my iPhone12Pro, iPadPro, and AppleWatch8. I fear this is another overt omission by Apple to neuter the MacOS (like they've done with the redesign of the macOS FaceTime.app, but I digress) There is also no playback control of the HomePod mini from the macOS ControlCenter as well.

Please let me know if Im just missing something in getting HomePod playback controls on my Mac. Ive done a reset (and restart) of the HomePod mini after updates to no avail.

SO yes I could just use another device, but they aren't always close at hand and moreover the point is WHY were these basic controls removed from the macOS?

Thanks for any insights

appreciate that, but hoping for a built-in solution (ie Terminal, Settings, etc)

Man, its very frustrating to watch how the macOS is being chipped away

still no love for returning "HomePod controls" back to Home.app on macOS15.5

maybe when the new OS drops after WWDC (but if history is any indication- doubtful)

I use Music for that. I didn’t know there was a Home app in macOS 😬

Well, not everything that can be played is via the Music.app or from the device in front of you.

control the HomePod by selecting it in the "Switch to" section
Hi, what/where is the 'switch to' section in macOS? It would be great if the macOS HomePod controls have been relocated the whole time. Please describe.

Ive you're referring to "switch to" from the Control Center, thats on iOS or iPadOS. Its not an option on macOS.

Currently playing audio on HomePod mini...
[on LEFT controls via iPhone also available on iPad], [in CENTER and RIGHT Mac Studio running macOS15.5 - there are no "switch to" options in Control Center or Home.app] At least the home.app states "Playing", nevertheless it makes no sense that they removed the controls.

And for the record, the Home.app on MacOS use to have these basic play/pause/stop controls but since Ventura(?) they've been stripped away.

In the upper right corner of the Music window, click on the AirPlay icon. You'll see a "Switch to" section in the menu that drops down.

Hi Thanks for clarifying and pointing it out. 👍

but again not everything played/listen to is from the Music.app. Radio apps/VLC/etc. Its kind of ridiculous  'relocated' these controls within another app altogether in macOS. These are basic UI controls, they should be accessible from the Finder level—either in Home or Control Center like iOS/iPadOS or previous versions of macOS.

Heres Music.app while the same audio is playing on my HomePod mini...
No transport controls—not even from within Music, since this audio isnt "in" Music Library.
