As well as the other stores not having any stocks of the iPhone 3G, today Apple updated their US store to show no stock of the 3G model iPhone.

Also, O2 Ireland have no stock in Pay Monthly or Pay and Go of the iPhone 3G although do have stock of the 3G S as usual.

Interesting!

So they ran out of stock. It was discontinued over a year ago. That's news?

It wasn't discontinued, it's been the $99 offering for a while now.

So this is significant becuase it reflects the final discontinuation of the 3G and potentially the dropping of a 3Gs model to a $99 price as the new iPhone is released.

Of course it was discontinued. There is no way they were building any 3g"s after the 3GS came out. That's not the way production and assembly lines work. I would be shocked if production of the 3GS has not been stopped also.

Walmart is already selling the 3GS for $99.

We already know the new iPhone 2010 (better name than 4g) is coming out in a few weeks.

Where is the news?????

No, it wasn't. At the announcement of the 3Gs it was announced that the 3G would be sold for $99. It was not discontinued.

These kind of posts come around every year, it's just someone recognizing the pattern and posting it, that's all.

Edit: Engadget thinks it's newsworthy http://www.engadget.com/
