iPod touch No iPod Touch yet?

I called my local Apple Store at Roosevelt Field Mall in Nassau County, New York. They only have the new Nanos, and they said they have "no idea" when the Touches will be in. I have a giftcard for that mall, which is why I want to buy it there, but it just seems crazy that Steve said on Tuesday they were available immediately, and now on Saturday my Apple Store doesn't have them and doesn't know when they will

Its just I've read of a lot of people picking them up at the store, I'm dissapointed I can't do the same. And Roosevelt Field is a major mall by my estimation, being one of the most popular malls on Long Island, so I would just have thought they would have received their shipment much sooner.
