I walked in the OakBrook, IL Apple Store today to buy an iWatch and they told me I'd have to go online and order through the app store. I've seen commercials and ads saying April 24. WTF Apple?

Welcome to Macrumors, maybe you should've visited here earlier to find this out.

No watches in HOUSES for people who ordered in the first minutes of 4/10, 2 weeks ago! WTF?

Apple sold so many pre-orders there were none left for any of the stores.

I have no interest in buying one and even I know that it is only available online and in a handful of shops around the world, none of which are apple stores.

hello?? they told you a LONG time ago.

now you see being positive isn't always good eh?

I think they planned all along not to have it in stores. They haven't had any trouble letting shipping dates slip for iPhone preorders while holding some back for stores.

If you want one as soon as possible, order the Sport with the Blue band. Although it says "June" on the store, they seem to be shipping within a day or two of ordering. It might be until June before you can actually walk into a store and get one.

Did you think even if they have them in store today that you could just waltz in and get one. It would have sold out in the first few hours from he people that camped outside all night. Just like any iPhone launches.

I understand if Apple says online only but they shouldn't plaster Apple watch all over the front of their stores when none are available. I drove by a store today and the only thing in the front window was Apple Watch.
Most companies build an inventory before releasing something.

Yeah ok because Apple loves doing press releases telling the public that the Watch they've been slaving over the last 3 years will not be in stores at launch. ;)

It has however been pretty well publicized that you would not be able to buy a Watch in store on launch date.

Given Apple's marketing, it's perfectly understandable that people might be confused about this. Not everyone reads tech blogs and rumors all the time.

In Apple Stores, yes BUT there are stores selling the Apple Watch, according to the Verge.
Here are a few:
Dover Street Market in London
Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera
Maxfield in Los Angeles

Granted that most stores selling them are overseas but it is rather strange how they are selling them but Apple (Store) is not. That is, if this report is indeed true.

(Your username is extremely familiar to me, were you posting a lot during the iPad 1 launch? I either chatted with you a lot or argued with you a lot, might have gone either way. =D )

Does not change the fact that it was widely publicized that Apple store would not have watches for purchase on launch day. Not just in internet forums either. In the general media.
