No John Lewis pre-orders this year..?

John Lewis's website now states that they will be available to buy from 8am on Friday so it doesn't look like any pre-orders via JL this year...

You can probably pay online and pick up in store later that day.

Although not iphone related I emailed customer services to ask this very question - apple watch has the same availability - and if I hear back I'll post here.
