In the slide of the new features that Scott Forstall brings up at the iOS 6 announcement, it clearly states Location based reminders for iPad in the top-left.
I was also expecting this to work on my iPad 3.
Seems like Find My Friends notify doesn't work on iPad 3 either....

Doesn't help to turn on Siri, doesn't help to turn on iADs as was suggested elsewhere.
There are several entries in the Apple Communities, some suggesting that Apple is aware that this doesn't work though it should.
No official thing about this though.
It is not in the iPad Help, though it does appear in the iPhone Help.
I would understand them leaving this out of the iPad 1, like they left it out of the iPhone 3GS (for no apparent reason), or out of any wifi-only devices, but on the iPad 3 lte it should really work.
I'm much more likely to type up a reminder on my iPad than on my iPhone. (and no luck with Siri on my 3GS
