Recently received a BT Hub 5 router and it was giving me a nice 5Ghz connection speed. A few weeks on and its now only giving me 2.4Ghz.

Nothing has changed, I'm still sat with my macbook only 6ft away from the Hub 5. Any reason why the speed has dropped, or how to improve it please?

Thanks.

Do other devices connect to the 5GHz signal...iPhone, iPad? If not, check your router. Things I would try to troubleshoot the router are:

1. Reboot the router
2. Log into the router's administrative console and make sure it's broadcasting 5GHz
3. Make sure it's not MAC address filtering.

If everything is OK on the router, then start looking on the Mac:

1. Turn wifi off then on.
2. Reboot the Mac.
3. See if the 5GHz signal is visible in the Airport menu.
4. Get an app to display nearby wifi networks and look for the 5GHz signal. (I like https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wifi-explorer/id494803304?mt=12)

I think you'll get it working.

Rebooting the Hub5 did the trick, thanks. Not sure how to test the Ghz connection on the iPad but its back to 5Ghz on my macbook. Thanks.
