Hi there,

so this is just a recent occurrence, perhaps updating from MacOS 14.6 to 14.7 but highly likely even much earlier. I also have a Catalina running 2009 MBP and for a while now haven't seen notifications come through either. Up until recently, banners (with audio alert) in MacOS have always shown that there's new posts/ replies to threads, but no longer. I have enabled push notifications multiple times within the prefs of MR but to no avail. Mostly now I have to refresh the page manually for a new alert to show.

I've looked in MacOS>system prefs>notifications and MR isn't listed there even but some other sites I've subscribed to are.

Cheers for any help

I can stand on my head but push notifications are enabled, they just refuse to display a banner in the notifications side of the MBP screen when they used to pop out in the past consistently. Does it work for anyone else still?

MacOS 14.7 what's happening: Permissions are correctly set on device for MR. Then on MR>Settings>Preferences, press Enable Push Notification, scroll to lower of page to press save. Banner at top briefly notifies that Your Changes have been Saved, page briefly refreshes but then reverts immediately to previous state.

Another update: Just tried with Firefox and Edge and with both browsers the MR Prefs "Enable Push Notifications" gets set when scrolling down, hitting Save. In Safari (latest version) however it reverts back immediately after it refreshes, following saving.

I've no idea how to fix this on my preferred browser.

I'm testing it on my older Sonoma machine right now and they are working properly. Do you have any extensions set up in Safari that could possibly be interfering with things?

You're saying this setting in your preferences isn't sticking?

And in the OS settings for notifications, there isn't anything for MacRumors?
