I have a new MacBook Pro 13 | 2018 on my Mac mini 2018 i have the option for looks like Resolution xy on my external 4k Display. Is there a way to enable this dialog on the MacBook Pro?

This was bothering me as well. I thought it was because I got the "made for Macbook" LG Ultrafine but I didn't realize that was still an option on other machines. Seriously at a certain point you dumb down the OS so much that it starts to get limiting.
 
I have looked up this issue in the apple discussion board and found the solution:

You can enable the option with this command in the terminal:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true

Update:
After rebooting the MacBook the option disappeared can’t get it to work again.

Okay I think I have found the issue.
Only the left Thunderbolt 3 ports in my MacBook Pro supports the "looks as option" in the System Preferences.
Can anyone check if their MacBook Pro 13" shows the same behaviour?

According to the Apple website all Ports in the 13" MacBook Pro 2018 are full speed ports.
The 2017 had the right side ports with reduced data speeds..
