i haven't had a low battery warning since around the time of Mountain Lion. i got a new Mac/MBP which came with Mountain Lion and suddenly my computer started dying without warning. i went to the battery in menu bar to set my preferences for when i wanted to be warned and how many times and those options were no longer there. That had to be a mistake, why take that away? i called Apple Support and was told they don't have it anymore. i got a 3rd party app which worked good but those never could keep up with the fast changing Mac OS anymore. i finally just bave been living wiht it and it makes me really mad. It's user UNFRIENDLY. so i was surprised to stumble onto this link and people saying in 2020 that they have always had low battery warning. i don't see anything in Energy settings related to any warning or alert. i got my first Mac, a Quadra 605, used, with System, 7.1, i think. Macs always had low battery warning, set by the user, the options were in the battery menu bar, i usually had mine at 20% with repeats after that every 5%. you could make it do whatever you wanted. It stopped being available when i got a new MBP with Mountain Lion. If anyone could tell me what i'm not seeing that could give me a warning, i would be grateful. Before Mountain Lion, there was a little window that came up in the middle of the display which said something like Warning: your battery has 20% of capacity left, something like that. i just took it for granted. Of course it had that. What decent operating system wouldn't have that?
i have Catalina, i got it when i got a new MBP in October 2020, July 2020 build, it came with Catalina 10.15.7 i think.
