Steve-notes: Units will be available in two weeks. (15+14 = 29)

They don't ship for two weeks or something.

It's just like when Apple announced the iPhone last year, but they didn't really come out 'til 6 months later.;)

Or are you trying to say you were hoping they would have a display model in the stores so you could look at it? No press release that I saw talked about anything other then they would start shipping in two weeks.

They were never supposed to be in stores already. The only thing you can do is wait. However, if you continue to look for it long enough, in about two weeks, you'll enter a store that has one :D

you know apple would probably sell more if they put them in the store so people could touch them.
I mean, looking at a picture online, isnt going to make me buy a 1800/3000 dollar computer. I MUST play with it first.
come on apple just make like 400 units really fast and ship em' to your stores!

Basically, they are not going to put them into stores until they are planning on selling them (or until the pre-ordered ones ship). I don't recall Apple ever showing something in-store if it is not available (disregarding items that are out of stock). And on Apple's site it refers to it as pre-ordering, so they are not planning on selling them right now, but we did see them release the touches early.

If what I've heard is right, there are no security slots on MBAs.

So... even if they WERE in stores...

Maybe you're going to have to settle with a glass display?? :p

That would suck if they had them on display with no security openings...

But with the displays alone, they should have had em by now if they wanted to show them off, but they're probably mass producing them as we speak so they'll have enough for official sale day.

Well I've got my manila envelope all ready to go:p

Apple: Uh, did you just put a MB Air in there?
Me: Oh no, it's just some letters I need to send out. See it weighs nothing.:p

When I worked at Apple and the MWSF 2003 announced the 12" and 17" aluminum PowerBooks, they were pre-order, but we got a display unit of one if not both. It may have been just the 17" in the front window. I don't believe it was available to play with though.
