I've been looking in the UK Apple refurb store for the past week, and macbooks seem to have completely vanished from it, ever since the minor bump they received a week ago. Previously, there was always lots of MB models available.

Does this indicate some kind of clearout or end of stock / decision to no longer sell refurb macbooks?

Also the really nice CD MBP 15'' for about £900 that I kept looking at for the last 2 months has vanished too. I know I wasn't gonna buy it but it was so tempting. Now there's nothing in there for less than £1150. :(

The US refurb store has plenty of everything as usual.

there were some in about 3 days ago, but they all disappeared in a matter of hours, which was really weird, but yeh other than that I've seen none.

They had a few early on Thursday morning with around 25% off the Core 2 Duos but they sold pretty quickly.

Looks like you'll have to get up a bit earlier, I usually check about 8:30am.

I saw some in there too the other day (Wed I think, haven't bothered checking since then). You have to remember though that the % discount they show you is based on the original selling price and since the price of the latest models has decreased and the RAM etc has been doubled they're not really that great a deal.

25% off the C2D is a much bigger discount than they used to give (about 17% I think) so that seems to be factored in. That's getting to be a pretty cool price actually.

There were loads up until about 2 weeks ago....which is when I got this C2D 1.83 G White model (and very nice it is as well) - I have not seen anything on there since I bought this - perhaps people are just watching them too sharply as they do offer some great deals!

Yes I saw them and a couple more yesterday morning.

£580 for an Apple C2D laptop is pretty decent. Shame it really needs 1GB of ram, but if you can get that in, you've got a screamer, plus decent warranty.

Dude, that's the USA price in dollars. I'd have to travel 3500 miles to get that. Even then, the sales tax isn't included in that price (varies by state).

Where? The cheapest macbook is £700. Even the Edu model is about £650.

Actually, when you buy via the Apple Store for Higher Education (you need to be on the education institution's network to access it) the price for the entry MB is £601.60 (£512.00 ex VAT).
