So after checking out iOS 6 on my iPad, I discovered that I don't seem to have the Maps app.

I'm wondering if it's because I have the Wi-Fi version (3rd gen).

If not, what might I be able to do to reconcile this grave error. I so want to play with Flyover.

That happened to me with my iPod touch once. I took it to the Apple store and they gave me a new one.

You've got a 3rd Gen iPad (the one with the retina display) wifi only and no maps? That's the same set up I have and iOS 6 came with maps for me. Not sure why it wouldn't show up on your machine. Definitely take it to an apple store, as it's a stock and can't be deleted so you will have proof that it's not on your device.
