In my car with CarPlay I’m getting no sound notifications when I get a message, WhatsApp etc. I get the notification banner though.

I’ve tried to look into all settings and tbh it’s now a minefield. Some on CarPlay, some on iPhone. I have a little bell icon in the CarPlay shortcut bar on the side.

I don’t want CarPlay to announce the message, I want like it was before, where it just does the notification sound, then when I click on the message/WhatsApp it reads out aloud.

I don’t have the DND when driving on either.

I’m on iOS 16.3.1, iPhone 14 Pro. It’s annoying as if I don’t see the banner when driving then I miss messages etc.

Anyone help please?

Is this a thing? If so, then it hasn’t been working for me since the beginning. Following for the same issue.

Maybe try in:
Notifications>Announce Notifications>Announce When Connected To [CarPlay]>Uncheck Announce Messages.

I believe that bell icon means you have Announce Messages enabled.

You can try rebooting the phone, your car’s infotainment system and/or unpairing re-pairing the phone to CarPlay.
