I'm out! All this nonsense with eligibility and ruckus, I've decided to get mine until dust settles or next year. I had ordered 16GB for $599 from ATT but I canceled it. Not worth it for this price. I want to wish all good luck on 24th, hopefully activation goes smoother.

And we care why?

"Nonsense with eligibility"

You mean to say that you bought the 3gs less then a year ago on a 2 year contract and its nonsense that they won't fully subsidize your new phone purchase? That is just repulsive. I'm sure any other carrier would do that for you.

I was hoping for early upgrade but I can get that only with manual override at Att stores. I didn't say I wanted full eligibility.

Less competition for a limited commodity?

Unlike what seems like 90% of the people here, I submitted my pre-order and haven't thought much about it since. I am not going to be one of those people who sits and refreshes the order-status page every minute to see if something has changed, then flip s**t and cry in threads because someones status changed to "Shipped" before theirs did.

Good! One less order between me and my phone. My odds of getting one the 24th just went up.

So thats 599,999 pre-orders now.

Thanks!

Wonder how many of the 600,000 are double or triple bookings? You know, people reserving in various channels, but only intending to complete the sale in one.

I want to replace two 3Gs soon, but can't be bothered with the pre order or reservation gymnastics. It's unfortunate that a process intended to spare people pain, seems to be inflicting it nonetheless.

Anyway, i'm hoping they'll be enough cancellations to go round. My 3Gs are holding up well, mind, so no rush.

There's a sneaky thing AT&T dust mention about early partial upgrades $399/499.

If u took the early partial upgrade on the 3GS last June 2009. You are not eligible for this "exemption" upgrade again.

That means u needed to fully wait your 18-21 months for full upgrade. So you will have to wait till 02/2011 or 03/2011.

Once you get back into that fill upgrade. Than you are next available for another exemption or partial upgrade in 02-2012. AT&T leaves out so many details.

Here's an idea, go to the various blogs and try to get as many people to cancel their order with AT&T to "send those SOBs a message". The more people who cancel, the higher likelyhood you get your phone. :D
