I’m kind of surprised they dropped the (rose) gold aluminum. I see lots of those in the wild, so I assumed it was a very popular color. Maybe all of those I‘m seeing are SEs. I was hoping for a similar but less coppery gold aluminum this year but starlight isn’t it for me.

I’m disappointed there is no SG too. But I was on the fence anyway about upgrading, this makes it easier. Hopefully SG returns for the S8.

So weird to see these color choices. I noticed that the new colors (red and blue) were the least popular making me think that Apple would probably trim down these colorful choices. Instead what I see is that they doubled down on this and went with more color choices and dropped the more popular silver and space grey.

Or perhaps your anecdotal observations don't match the actual sales figures regarding red and blue. As for Space Gray and Silver, as one who as only ever ordered Space Gray AWs, I have no issue with the "Midnight" color (probably couldn't even tell the difference except up close), and "Starlight" looks identical to Silver to me.

Hey, at least we have five choices. I can't imagine there's anyone out there that wouldn't like ANY of those colors.

I don’t have the sales data and no one will as Apple doesn’t release those numbers but there are several data points that indicate they are low volume sellers. This forum barely has anyone with red or blue, multiple retailers had very deep discounts on only red models several times, and all marketplace sites (Mercari, eBay, FB, etc) have much fewer numbers of these colors for sale compared to silver and space grey. Further more these colors sell for much cheaper than their silver/grey counterparts indicating low demand.

Apple isn't stupid. They're not going to continue to produce a product that bombs. Or maybe they produce much less of them but still do so because advertising a wide array of colors looks better? But then again, why not just choose two new colors and test the waters?

Also, just checked Apple's website, and AW S6 isn't even available in red (it IS offered in blue) and the SE isn't available in either red nor blue. So what existing AWs are even offered with a red casing? I'm confused.
