No more volume control on Apple Earbuds?

I'm watching a movie with the white Apple earbuds (the one that comes with the iPods/iPhones) and the volume control on them isn't working. I know for a fact it worked on Snow Leopard, is this a bug in Lion?

Is anyone else having the issue?

They only work on certain Mac models. I have a 2009 MBP that they work on but not on a 2008 MB.

I've rebooted my MacBook since last night and the volume control is working again on the earbuds. Must just have been a glitch.
