since i am not the primary account holder for our att account i had my mom pick up my 3g iphone for me. i thought she would come home with it already activated but insteat i got an iphone sealed in the box. so what do i do from here? do i just take the sim out of my old iphone and im good to go or do i use the new sim in the phone and try to activate it on itunes?

sorry for the newbie question guys. i searched and got lost in too many threads.

It doesn't state what country you're in. Some countries allow it, but when you activate your phone, it automatically "converts" you to whatever account you sign up for.

In the US, they activate all on your account before you leave. I got mine in the midde of the Apple activation crisis, so I got to take mine home to activate. It still meant that AT&T activated my account with the new plan (their system didn't go down).
