No new text tones with gm 4.2

i have looked everywhere but i haven't found this question asked or being answered so bear with me. i just installed the new 4.2 gm seed on my iphone 3gs and everything went fine. but i don't seem to see any of the new text tones. my question is are the new tones just iphone 4 specific (that would be really silly of apple) or is there something else wrong here. i have tried reinstalling the fw, done a reboot.
