When browsing at Apple's website, I noticed that there are several pictures of the new MacBook Pro that do not show the notch and, instead, the laptops have a larger top bezel. Look here: https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro-14-and-16/. Or is it because the app is in full screen?

Full screen app like you said. Looks like MacOS will automatically put a black bar on either side of the notch when making apps full-screen.

The Notch is only for status bar area. Maybe app needs to be updated to extend into notch?

I believe the top bar will be blacked out when on full screen. With the mini-led, it should be black enough to blend into the background without being noticeable. The pictures likely include the notch.
