I have a mac mini from 2014 that is currently running Sierra. Suddenly, one day, my sound simply stopped working. In system preferences-->sound it says "no output devices found"

I have done a lot of research on this, and have tried the following:

1. deleted the audio preferences
2. deleted BezelServices.plist
3. reset the NVRAM
4. reset the SMC
5. deleted my antivirus software and disabled bluetooth
6. booted into safe mode
7. repaired disk permissions
8. upgraded the OS from to Sierra

Absolutely nothing has worked.

I ran diagnostics with Apple --no hardware issues. At the Apple Store, we booted the system to a remote image on the network: sound works using that image

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this.
