Yes it was on one of the next to last pages of the ordering. You have to click on either apple store or AT&T store.

Interesting, I swear I didnt see that option, If I did I would have picked it up myself on launch day!

Having the same problem. I'm hoping someone has a solution. Otherwise I'm gonna have to wait until the phone lines die down and I can call Apple.

I didn't see it either.... I'm off work that day so I wanted to pick it up early... I didn't preorder because of this... Wonder if it's a mistake

From what i heard they dont really ship to stores anymore. I went all over in and around western new york and finally found an ATT store that would ship to their store. So i pre-ordered there this morning. and can pick up my phone there next friday.

I had the option to pick up in store and declined

Yes I clearly remember seeing the option. There were two boxes on the left was AT&T Store, on the right there was Apple Store, and if you didn't click anything and just hit continue button it defaults to ship to house.

macdawg, is this screen after the credit card information and shipping info screen?

What order the screens come in I can't say
But there was def an option for me to pick up in store, and I selected home delivery
In store is "first come first served" and I saw the lines for the iP4 release
2 lines, one to buy and one to pick up, and there was a long pickup line
No thanks, I'll have it delivered, thank you very much :)

okay cool sounds good thanks!

I didn't see that option this time, either. I know it wasn't available for the 3GS launch, as that's what I wanted to do and ended up having to place multiple orders and then cancel one just to be able to go to an AT&T store for pickup. I think back then the deal was that if you placed the order in a physical store, you could pick it up there. But online, it was ship-to-home only.

ETA: I ordered this time through the app, so that may have been the difference.

I'm not seeing this option now either -- the lack of in-store pickup is really making me have second thoughts about preordering.

I'm hardly ever home, and the FedEx/UPS delivery centers are in incredibly inaccessible locations here locally -- it's really a struggle to get to one before they close on a workday.

Being able to pickup my phone in the Apple Store after work at 7-8 pm is incredibly convenient.

Very disappointed they took this option away.

I ended up ordering and it will be picked up at the ATT store. However, it was an in store pre order and not exactly the normal scenario.

I got the Samsung Galaxy S II yesterday afternoon and returned this morning. In the return / exchange I'll be picking up at the ATT store.

Apple knows that you cant have a big news story about high demand if you make it easy to pick up in store so they didnt have the option.

There wasnt an "option" for in-store pickup, but there was a "suggestion" link that explained you can pick up your phone by going to your local store on the 14th. Thats what people here are mistakingly reporting.

That's ridiculous -- they've had pre-orders available for pickup at Apple Stores for previous iPhone releases.

The pre-order customers are often among the people queuing up for phones at 5-6 in the morning so that they can be the first to own -- the nuts that get on TV and create the buzz for Apple.

I couldn't seem to find any way to have it set as an in store pickup either. I guess either I'm missing it, or there are still some bugs in the pre-order site. Oh well.

No Reservation for in-Store Pick-Up?

The pre-order process for the iPhone 4 allowed you to reserve a unit for pick-up in a store. No such option this time around. Bummed, because I don't want the phone shipped to my house because no one will be there to receive it on the 14th. If they leave it on the doorstep (which they do sometimes), it might not be there when I get home, and if they take it back I won't get it until Monday.

Gah! Looks like I'll be braving the store on Friday.

im on the phone with ATT as we speak and they are able to change the address for me!

I'm in the same boat -- I'm rarely home between the hours of 7AM and 7PM due to work, and I can't really take the day off to sit and wait for a phone to be delivered.

I don't understand why they can't have reservation devices at the Apple Stores -- it's such a convenient thing to go in, pick up your phone, and walk out.

Home delivery is incredibly annoying, by comparison.
