Apple is using Intel's latest Core iX family (known as Arrandale). There is no Quad-Core mobile Core iX at the moment.

The Quad-Core i7 you see listed there is Clarksfield.
 
Anyone notice that the updates aren't using the quad core i7?

I thought that was a bit odd...

Why would you think this is odd? Have you been under a rock for ~ 12 months?

There are 2 versions of the mobile i7. Clarksfield = Quad Core = 45 or 55 watts TDP. Too much power and too hot for such a small chassis as the MBP.

Then there is Arrandale = Dual Core = 35 Watts TDP. Which is very similar to what the C2D's had.

How are you still confused about this after literally a year of discussion?
