Right now if I want to upload a picture to MacRumors, I have to open up iPhoto, and click on iCloud on the left tab, wait forever while it syncs up and freezing up and color wheeling the Mac, and eventually, I can get to the Photo Stream pictures to upload.

Is there a quicker way to get to the Photo Stream pictures, short of this painstaking slow process? I am on OS X Yosemite, and the Mac is too old for Air Drop.

you could imessage the photo to yourself.

i do that all the time.
But now, there's iCloud Photo Library. So i just head down to www.icloud.com

but thinking of that long process... i'd rather iMessage it to myself. [unless im too lazy to find the photo on my iphone]

You can connect your phone to your computer and use Image Capture. It's how I've done it for years.
