No receipt for Smart battery case....

Can Apple still identify a Smart battery case without a receipt for how old and if still in warranty?

Just seen a good deal for one which states new but won't have a receipt for warranty.

I've checked the serial number online and says unable to vidate purchase date (https://checkcoverage.apple.com/gb/en/).

Now I know with iPhones the warranty starts when it's activated so easy to know, but how will this work on a smart battery case?

Or for something like this is it tough if you don't have a receipt?
