No screen saver when AirPlay Mirroring?

I am AirPlay mirroring my 2017 MacBook 12" to my 3rd Gen Apple TV and the screen saver does not work. I fell asleep while watching a TV show last night and I woke up to my desktop.

Is there a way to manage this?
